Outreach
OUR MISSION
The Frontier Army of the West, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, is a pace-setter in the vibrant and growing Civil War and Indian War reenactment movement that is captivating spectators and educating the public, young and old alike, all across the country.
To promote living history and participate in the education of our community, the Frontier Army of the West was formed in 1995 and incorporated as a state and federal historical educational 501c3 corporation in 2001.
We strive to educate audiences with as complete a recreation as possible. Historical authenticity is our passion. We take pains to ensure that everything from our weapons and uniforms to civilian attire and living history encampments are period-correct reproductions of the real thing, to portray some of the conditions and to bring vividly to life all the sights, sounds, and drama of this period of our country’s history and heritage.
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Upon request, The Frontier Army of the West can create a total-immersion experience for your school organization. We can customize the experience to meet your requirements for time and physical space.
We'll transport your students back to the mid-19th century, to the time of the most turbulent and bitter conflict in the history of the United States. Members of the Frontier Army of the West share their knowledge of Civil War history as they lead participants in an exploration of Civil War life.
Your students will spend a full day learning about various aspects of the Civil War era through living history displays and hands-on activities. Topics include military drills, firearms, camp life and civilian life, recreation, cooking, communications, medicine and surgery, the role of women, clothing, uniforms, music and social dancing.
If you, as a school educator, are interested in this unique educational opportunity, I invite you to contact me using the information listed below.
